Starting Fresh on the Equinox
Happy Spring Equinox! Every year the sun moves into the sign of Aries on the Spring Equinox, marking the beginning of the astrological new year and the official start of Spring. This is a day of the year when everything is brought into balance for a moment to mark the beginning of a new cycle. In fact, the word equinox means equal night. There’s lots of symbolism pointing toward fresh starts in Aries Season, especially this year. Not only is Aries the first sign of the Zodiac, it’s also ruled by Mars, which is the planet of action and will. Before we switched the Gregorian calendar, the new year began in March to coincide with the seasonal beginning of spring- the Equinox. Additionally, Aries is a cardinal sign which means it carries the energy to instigate, with motivation and to take action.
Lastly, for the start of this year’s Aries season, we have zero planets in retrograde, meaning that the energy of the cosmos is supporting us in making a movement forward.
We’ve probably all been feeling held back in many ways this past year. I know for me, it’s felt almost impossible to even think or dream about the future. But all the stars seem to be aligning at this moment to invite us to look forward. A lot of us have felt like our values have gotten a swift re-alignment after basically a year in lockdown. At the same time, there has been a lot of focus inward and an illumination of what’s really important to us.
Aries Season offers an ideal time for us to exercise our personal autonomy, and to reflect on, and respect our independent nature. What motivates you? What are your goals and are they in alignment with what you truly desire? Sometimes goals are vague or hard to pin down. With Aries’ ruling planet, Mars, in Gemini right now, this is a good time to get curious and ask questions. Maybe you don’t have a clear idea of what your goals are, but perhaps you know how you want to feel. Personally, I think focusing on how you want to feel rather
than what you want to accomplish, is a better motivator and more
clearly reflects what your inner self really wants.

I don’t know about you, but spring is my favorite time of year! I love the fiery shift in energy from winter, as well as all the bright greens and sudden explosion of life…. Not to mention all the amazing flowers. Plus, my birthday is in Spring!
