It’s June! And for the last 23 years that means it’s Pride Month!
This month-long celebration is rooted in a traumatic history of decades upon decades of LGBTQIA people fighting for acceptance, basic human rights and respect. At its heart, Pride Month is all about the freedom to be yourself,
and that's something I will always get behind.

But first, there are two things you need to know: one, I am obsessed with true crime. In fact, it’s probably safe to assume that if you happen to be wearing any Beina Roza Jewelry right now, it was made while listening to a true crime podcast. And two, the idea that an innocent person can sit in jail for literally years because they cannot afford bail absolutely maddens me. I hear about it via my excessive podcast consumption all the time.  I’ve never personally been to jail, but many of my family members have (we all have that side of the family, right? JK ;) so, I know how life altering it can be. Imagine if you exist outside of societies’ gender norms (the main line along which you're divided when incarcerated) how potentially traumatic and literally life threatening even a few days or weeks could be. Let alone years.

This is why, 100% of the proceeds from the Limited-Edition Rainbow Heart Necklaces will go to the LGBTQ Freedom Fund. I love their mission, it’s so simple: they raise money to pay the bail for LGBTQ individuals.

Here’s a few facts:
  • Just because you are arrested does not mean you are guilty of a crime.
  • LGBTQ people are 3 times more likely to be jailed.
  • Even one day of incarceration puts LGBTQ individuals at risk of violence and or job loss, childcare issues and housing difficulties.
  • Because black people are 5 times more likely to be incarcerated, black LGBTQ individuals are disproportionately at risk.
No only are the limited-edition rainbow hearts a fun and helpful way to celebrate pride month, but the multicolor symbol of the rainbow represents and honors diversity of all kinds.

Diversity quote

Diversity includes all of us. And we can’t be diverse if we are all the same, so let this special heart necklace remind you that you are different and that is a beautiful thing!
