I'm writing this post on Monday, January 19,  the day after the first new moon of the year. The new moon was in Capricorn at noon PST on Sunday the 18th. Astrologers are always saying things like "this is the BIGGEST new moon of the year!" but usually they are just trying to get your attention. I have no idea what anyone else is saying about this new moon, but from what I have seen it truly is one of the most potently energetic new moon's I have ever seen. When the themes and symbols repeat themselves over and over, and the deeper meanings of the signs involved are so fascinatingly layered, I can't help but think that this moment is clearly calling us to pay attention. There are many big planetary shifts happening in 2026, this new moon not only sets the tone but reveals a sort of set of instructions on where to focus your energy in the upcoming year.

The new moon on Sunday January 18 was at 27 degrees Capricorn, which means both the sun and moon were together at the same degree. At the same time, Mercury and Mars were also right there with them at 25 degrees Capricorn.  Saturn, the planet that rules Capricorn is currently in Pisces at, guess what degree!?! 27! Not only that but Uranus is in Taurus at... you guessed it... 27 degrees!! So that's 4 planets (Sun, Moon, Saturn & Uranus) at the exact same degree plus two more planets in close conjunction all in earth signs, all happily aspecting one another in a harmonious trine. So what, you say?  As I said, repeating patterns in astrology mean "pay attention to this moment".

But the real stunner is the meaning hidden within the degrees themselves, the numerology behind the symbols. The number 27 equals 9 in numerology (2 + 7 = 9). Nine is the number completion, but not finality, it's simultaneously the ending and beginning of a cycle...exactly like the new moon. The nodes of the moon (which symbolize the trajectory of the soul) just happen to ALSO be at 9 degrees pisces/virgo right now.

This ending/beginning symbology is also reflected in the fact that 2026 is a 1 year, 2025 was a 9 year. In 2026 we are starting a new 9 year cycle. This year seems to be supercharged with the energy of a new cycle because three of the slower moving outer planets will be changing signs which kicks starts new cycles within the new cycle!

Saturn (ruler of the Capricorn new moon) and Neptune (ruler of Pisces) will soon enter Aries, which is represented and connected to the number one (the first sign of the zodiac). Both planets have been in Pisces (which is connected to the number 9) for several years (Saturn since 2023 and Neptune since 2011). Coincidentally (or not!) Uranus is also entering a new sign, Gemini this year. Three planets entering new signs at the same time is a rare event in and of itself! The big deal last year was that Pluto changed signs into Aquarius. This year we have all three of the rest of the outer planets following suit, an event that so rare it's still bleeding! We can't forget about faster moving Mercury and Mars both at 25 degrees Capricorn at the time of the new moon. Twenty five adds up to 7 in numerology and both planets are connected to the number nine and the Hermit card in tarot which brings in the other earth sign Virgo. (The Hermit card is connected to the sign Virgo, Sun, Moon, Mercury Mars are all together at 27 Capricorn and Uranus is at 27 Taurus, that's all the earth signs... is your head spinning? Mine is!)

So we have A LOT of 9's! And then some 7 is showing up, as well as the number 1.....what does it all mean????

Nine is  the number that signifies connection with the divine, wisdom, and benevolence toward humankind. It's associated with the Hermit card of the tarot that reminds us that the answers are inside of us, but we can only find them if we look.

Seven is a number that represents the spiritual seeker, the part of all of us that is drawn to the the deep inner search for meaning and knowledge. It's the crown chakra, the point that connects us to our higher selves and spiritual awakening (concepts that are also connected to the planet Neptune!). Seven is the truth seeker.

One, of course, is the number of beginnings! It is the number that starts the new cycle, the number of the seed and of creation itself. It's also associated with the sign Aries, and individuality. The spark of individual consciousness emerging from the primordial sea. It represents what is totally unique and singular about each one of us.

The energy of a new moon is already about the cycle starting over, death and rebirth. And as you can see from the numerology... hopefully if you're still with me...that this energy of renewal is SUPERCHARGED! All these layers and layers of meaning point to the birth of a new potential for connection to the divine, creator, god, enlightenment, whatever you want to call it. But not just that...it's that... the path to get there is you!

You are the only one and you are the only way.

If you're still here stay with me a little longer...

Like I said... Neptune and Saturn are moving into Aries...Let's just focus on them. Neptune is our dreams and Saturn is reality. Neptune connects us to all that is, including all our potential selves, all versions of ourselves that could potentially exist. Saturn anchors ideas and dreams into the physical earth reality we live in. Neptune dreams and Saturn makes it real. As they both move into Aries they spark a new potential, something that wasn't there before.

All these symbols are saying that you have a cosmic moment, right now, to connect to all that is, all your dreams, all potential versions of yourself....find that golden thread, and pull it down to earth.

Nine: Connect to the divine(or whatever you call it),

Seven: find the part of yourself, inside yourself, that knows what truth is,

ONE: bring it down and make it real as only you can, in your own unique way, not in anyone else's way. Breath life into your unique dream.

You will know this truth because IT WILL LIGHT YOU UP!

Maybe I should have started there...but if you actually got to the end of this, we must be friends. As in, you must be one of my close friends to have read all this, and if you're not, then WE MUST become friends!

Speaking of which... I have a workshop coming up for people who are curious about astrology and want to meet their moon sign. Or maybe you already know about astrology but are looking for a way to connect to your moon sign? If this sounds interesting to you send me a message and I'll put you on the invite list!

Get on the invite list! Message me at erin@betinaroza.com
